The AMBIT team work hard to support young people and their families when dealing with a wide range of individual issues. This support has helped them to cope better with family life. We continue to build positive trusting relationships with families. As a result of this we are asked directly by families for further support and guidance showing that the work is needed and effective.
Parent Training Courses
Due to the success of the parents ADHD course delivered by Blossom Tree, the parents requested more training and have since completed the ‘Handling Anger in the Family’ 4-week Course as well as a short course on ‘Drugs Awareness’ with Whaeed Wilayat who is a substance use practitioner from the Associated Wellbeing Team. Both these courses proved to be very successful and feedback from parents was excellent. Look out for future parent’s courses running throughout the academic year.
Parent Coffee Mornings
The Coffee, Cake and Conversation parents group meet each week to support each other with the trials and tribulations of bringing up children with additional needs. They also tackle the daily issues faced by families. This group has done a short course on setting up their own constituted group, thanks to Blossom Tree, and now have a named committee with a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. The name of this new group as chosen by the parents is ‘Mothers Natter’. The group aim to grow and build on their initial success by applying for external funding and organising events and training for The Rose parents, in particularly the parents of our new Year 7 children. The ‘Mothers Natter’ group enjoyed a break from the daily grind and let their hair down during a trip to Oswaldtwistle Mills for coffee, cake and laughter.
